Light your way into blacksmithing! In this introductory class there will be three sample projects available for students to choose from, depending on your personal style and experience level. They vary from traditional to contemporary- a classic candlestick for the table or mantle, a handheld candle holder by which to walk about the house, and a wall-mounted sconce with a reflective backplate. Students will learn a solid skill base of traditional forging techniques including tapering, upsetting, punching and chiseling, mortise and tenon joinery, and riveting. We will use twists, scrolls, and decorative filing to embellish your work. We will also do some brazing in the forge.
