Course Overview

It’s always sweater weather up north! Start your fall wardrobe early among new knitting friends. Let the rhythmic sounds of the waves and wind inspire every stitch. Using her most popular knitting pattern, the Reunion Cardigan, Brienne will teach you the secret to creating knitted fabric and a customized fit that you love. You’re going to want one of these in every color. But this class isn’t just about crafting a cozy sweater; it’s about creative intent. Let’s make time in the heart of summer for stillness on the shore. You’ll come away with a wearable swatch and be well on your way to a handmade sweater, too. Basic knitting skills are recommended, but adventurous beginners are welcome! Knitters should be ready to read patterns, cast-on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, pick up stitches, and bind off. That being said, Brienne’s here to help and can work through those skill sets with newer knitters. Participants should bring their favorite knitting needles and an open mind ready for creativity and exploration. Students can expect to pay the instructor $100-$180 for materials including yarn, needles, two patterns, and buttons. Instructor will guide students prior to class in figuring out sizing and purchasing.

Sweater Secrets: Learn the art of seamless construction, and the magic of creating a wearable swatch that truly reflects your unique style. Explore the secrets of selecting the right yarn, understanding gauge, and creating a swatch that serves as a canvas for your creativity.

Summer Camp Vibes: Immerse yourself in the nostalgia of summer camp (minus the mosquitoes and bunk beds) as you bond with fellow knitting enthusiasts. Enjoy outdoor knitting sessions by the lakeside, share stories, and forge lasting connections with like-minded individuals.

North Shore Excursions: In addition to knitting sessions, explore the local yarn shop, and gather inspiration from the rich scenery of the region.
