Course
Inspired by Cabochons
Course Overview
In this workshop, students will start by selecting either an oversized cabochon or a group of three curated cabochons. Students will come up with a unique design for their beautiful cabochon and then create either a single oversized statement piece or a jewelry set consisting of earrings and a complementary necklace. The focus will be on setting cabochon stones in silver bezels, working with traditional round or oval stones in addition to uniquely shaped square or angular stones. This is an opportunity to learn how to successfully bezel-set a larger stone or create an oversized element with multiple pieces. Think statement piece! Students will also create their own textured metal plate using the rolling mill to add another level of personalized design. All tools will be provided, and sterling silver and copper sheet (not including larger pieces of sterling silver sheet specified in the required tool list), will be available for purchase at the time of the class. Students should expect to pay $55-$75 to the instructor for these supplies during class.
