Hjordis captain Matthew Brown will lead a group of participants as they work to handcraft three new sails for the school’s 50’ schooner, the Hjordis. This course is a volunteer service project designed to welcome the involvement of sailing enthusiasts. Three different projects sessions offer you the opportunity to play an active role in replacing all the schooner’s sails while gaining hands on skills in the basics of sail making. Once completed the Hjordis will have a new, more traditional schooner look and increased sail area to make the most of light breezes in the Grand Marais harbor.
