This course is a natural follow-up to the course “Form Building for the Wood-Canvas Canoe.” You work as a team with other students building two canoes: the 17’4” Penobscot, a fast tandem cruiser, and the WilloWisp, a delightful solo canoe. The whole process from milling ribs to canvassing, filing and installing gunwales are be completed in a manner that demystifies the techniques used to build beautiful and durable traditional canoes. A few hand tools and introductory wood working skills are helpful but not crucial. Maximum class size is 10 students.
