Course
Form Building for the Wood-Canvas Canoe
Course Overview
The solid wood-sheathed and steel-banded mold or form that makes traditional canoe building efficient and fast often looms as an obstacle to amateur builders. Broken down into its various steps, however, the process is a rewarding building project in its own right. In this six-day course you work with the other students to construct two different building forms – a 17’4” Penobscot cruising canoe and a 14’6” WilloWisp solo canoe, both derived from original E.M. White designs by the instructor. The results will be two fine forms ready to go and students who can build their own forms with confidence.
