Folk Roots of Western Swing Guitar
Course Overview
Western Swing was an outgrowth of the fiddle and guitar dance bands of the 1920s in the southwest, influenced by the melting pot that was Texas and the growing popularity of jazz. Learn about the roots of the guitar styles used in western swing - from backing the simple fiddle tune and European dance steps, to the "take-off" styles popularized later. Bring your instruments. We’ll be playing. Brian is part of Swiddlin' Fling, a Western Swing band performing as part of the Traditional Music weekend.
