We will welcome esteemed woodcarver and instructor Mary May as our Featured Instructor for Wood Week 2022. In this course, Mary will teach a variety of relief carving techniques focused on floral motifs. She will discuss how to work with the grain and address issues that arise when the grain fails to cooperate with the maker’s intent. Tool holds and technique, sharpening, and project planning will all be discussed at length. Mary is well-known for her approachable style and her ability to make complex traditional relief carving accessible to carvers at all levels. She is a prolific online woodcarving instructor; don’t miss a chance to work with her in person on her first trip to North House!
