Course
Danish Embroidery
Course Overview
Patterned after the Danish Handcraft Guild method, Danish Embroidery is stitched on even-weave linen with cotton Danish Flower thread. Techniques covered in the course: cross stitch, pulled work and drawn work. The latter two are done with white linen thread and include basic hemstitching plus many variations. Emphasis is on themes from nature and the use of natural materials. Projects may include but are not limited to: band samplers, bookmarks, bellpulls, needlecases, photo album covers, birth and marriage samplers, and pillow covers. Students progress at their own speed, planning projects for class and others to be completed at home.
