The ice chisel is a traditional tool which has been used in one form or another for centuries. A hardened blade is mounted to a handle creating the perfect implement for cutting holes in ice up to several feet thick. In this course, students can choose from four different ice steel chisel designs (including a three sided blade option) and along the way will learn be introduced to blacksmithing and hardening steel. Students will build the chisel head and attach it to a handles of their choice. This tool is an excellent addition to your winter trekking or camping gear.
