Cruck Framing: Online Webinar

Course Overview

Cruck building is a Medieval English method of timber framing using pairs of large, curved timbers (cruck blades) that are joined at their apex to function as both post and principal rafter. The resulting Gothic arch creates a dramatic open hall space that is both structurally stable and visually appealing. Join cruck framing instructors Neil Godden and Jack Sobon for an evening presentation on Zoom. They'll share about the history of cruck frames, examples of frames they've built with students in workshops, and an overview of conversion methods, layout and scribing and raising. This is a great introduction to the craft for students who were planning to take the in-person cruck framing course this summer, or just for timber framing enthusiasts in general!
