Course
Creativity with Beverages: Teas, Herbs, Water, and Bubbles
Course Overview
Join us for a day of exploring the world of creativity in beverage-making. As participants learn several techniques for making drinks, Monarda will weave in herbal wisdom, knowledge, and stories. We will start the journey learning how to identify common weeds and wild plants, and how to harvest and properly dry herbs for tea-making. On the first day, participants will learn the fundamentals of creating a tea blend balanced for medicine, flavor, and nutrition, how to brew chia, as well as how to make fermented sodas and flower cordials. On day 2 we will brew and blend and sample together! Monarda will briefly cover mulling wine, making sangria, and mixing mocktails. The goal for this workshop is for participants to cultivate the confidence to begin to experiment with creating tea blends unique to their wants and needs. Students will go home with 4-8 different drinks, as well as recipes and information on how to make them at home. Tea is the most basic, inexpensive, delicious, and accessible way to convey medicine to the body for healing. It can be a simple and powerful self-love ritual. This workshop will introduce students to basic herbal healing philosophy, knowledge, and wisdom in a practical way. Participants will go away with an introduction to herbal medicine, information about safety, as well as an understanding of sustainable and ethical issues within herbalism. Students under 18 are welcome to register for this class with a full paying adult. The youth student will receive a 25% intergenerational discount; call to register.
