Romantic braids, because of their social nature, are a reflection of human interaction, especially dance, and will serve as the introduction to this ideas and inspiration workshop. We focus on simple and sophisticated techniques drawn from historical sources: Twisting (plying) for decorative effect. Knotting. Braiding. Flätade band. Needle-worked nålbound trims. This two-day workshop expands beyond the concepts and techniques covered in “Textile Craft Workshop.” All projects are approachable for all skill levels. Although the emphasis is on technique, and on finishing touches for textile creations, students will complete several stand-alone projects. Because a portion of this workshop includes group activities, minimum class size is four students.
