Beyond Knotless Netting

Course Overview

Simple looping or "knotless netting" is one of the oldest known textile techniques. In this class you'll learn (or review) simple looping with a strong emphasis on tension control, then quickly move on to stitch variations from around the world. You'll use the "lost form" technique to create fiber sheaths for two small gourds, integrating bars, ladders, cascades, pockets, hairnets, and skipped-stitch patterning. This type of stitching is easy to keep on hand for found moments, and it has a relaxing, meditative effect on the stitcher. You'll also learn double chain and double bullion cords to turn your stitch samplers into eye-catching necklaces.
