This is a story of a young Indian in Canada who carves a tiny canoe with a figure inside and names him Paddle-to-the-Sea. The boy puts his carving in a river that leads to Lake Superior. Paddle-to-the-sea goes on many adventures. As people find him, they put their name and where they're from on him. Eventually he makes it across the ocean and into France! Paddle's journey, in text and pictures, through the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean provides an excellent geographic and historical picture of the region.
