Basketry

Invitation to Coiled Basketry

Course Overview

Explore the delight of varied scents and textures with coiled basketry! Using a variety of grasses, sedges, and garden plants, we will begin with a small ornament and progress to making a small basket using an agate slice base. Thread (waxed linen, artificial sinew, and waxed polycord), coiling needles, a small agate slice, and the various grasses will be provided. Additional agate slices of various sizes will be available for purchase. Note: These projects will require some hand muscle endurance. Arthritis in your hands can make this a challenge, but it can work. Students 14+ are welcome to register independently.
