Meet Hege Aasdal, a Norwegian basketmaker and one of our Featured International Instructors at Unplugged 2025. Hege is passionate about producing baskets directly from nature, and will teach three courses this fall.
Unplugged returns this fall, and we're honored to announce Kenta Watanabe, an indigo farmer and dyer from Tokushima, Japan, will be joining as one of our 2025 Featured International Instructors!

Sail Lake Superior
Sail on the schooner Hjørdis! Our traditionally-rigged schooner offers daily, 2-hour sails from late May through early October.
May—July sails are now open for booking! Click the button below to book your sail or find more information here.
August-October sails will be announced through our email newsletter at a later date.

Summer on the North Shore is a magical time of year—the sun is at its zenith, boats dot the Grand Marais harbor, and the warm days beckon us outdoors. Celebrate the best of summer on Lake Superior at the Summer Solstice and Wooden Boat Festival!
This year's event will bring community gatherings, traditional craft experiences, and activities for folks of all ages. Discover, dance, paddle, create, and welcome the brightest season at North House Folk School!
